QUALIFIED ELECTRONIC SIGNATURE CERTIFICATES MANAGEMENT SUSPENSION OF A CERTIFICATE

INFONOTARY temporarily suspends the operational period of an issued certificate on specific grounds and without exception only for the period enforced by the circumstances. In such situations INFONOTARY undertakes immediate actions in connection with the suspension of the certificate and provides means of quickly executing requests to suspend, ascertains through inquiry that the reasons for suspension are valid and notifies the Author and the Holder as soon as possible about the particular set of circumstances, the validity and reliability of the issued certificate.
The consequences of the temporary suspension are that for the specified time period the certificate is considered invalid.

Who is authorized to request suspension?

INFONOTARY is obliged to suspend the operational period of an issued certificate:

  • At the request of the Holder, respectively the Author, but is not required to confirm that the person requesting suspension is or at least claims to be the subscriber or one acting on behalf of an unavailable subscriber;
  • When the Communications regulation commission directs that it has is a well-grounded suspicion that the certificate is a subject to compromise and thus it must be suspended;
  • By order of the president of the Communication regulation commission and when the interests of a third party are directly endangered and there are sufficient evidences for infringement of the law.

Procedure for requesting suspension

Suspension is effected by the Certifying authority of the Provider when the requesting party presents the following documents:

  • Request for temporary suspension by the Holder, respectively the Author to the Provider;
  • Written order for suspension of the certificate issued by the Communications regulation commission on a well-grounded suspicion that the certificate is a subject to compromise and thus it must be suspended;
  • By order of the president of the Communication regulation commission and when the interests of a third party are directly endangered and there are sufficient evidences for infringement of the law.

The Author, the Holder or the qualified representative request the suspension through (see Contacts):

  • The web page of the provider, if the Applicant is a registered user and has the respective access rights;
  • By the phone, through the IVR service, covered by the Provider, with Personal ID code, received during the initial registration of the Holder and the Author;
  • By fax or e-mail or
  • Personally in the Registration department of the Provider.

Preliminary identification and authentication of the applicants who have filed requests for suspension and of their qualified representatives are not required.


The Certifying authority suspends the validity of the certificate as soon as possible in the particular set of circumstances and after the request is received and publishes it in the Certificate suspension and revocation list.

Restriction on the suspension period

The Provider is obliged to suspend the validity of an issued certificate for a period determined according to the particular circumstances, but not longer than 48 hours after the request is received.
