An electronic time stamp (TimeStamp) confirms the existence of specific data in electronic form at a certain point in time. A Qualified Time Stamp issued by a qualified trust service provider is reliable evidence that specific data in electronic form has existed at that time.

A qualified electronic time stamp is presumed to have the accuracy of the date and time it indicates and the integrity of the data with which the date and time are associated.
